Doug Starr is a Professor of Agricultural Communications and Journalism at Texas A&M University. For the past 30 years, he has taught public relations principles and practices and news writing for newspaper, radio, and television, first at the University of North Texas, then, for the past 20 years, at Texas A&M.

Before going into teaching, he began his career as a newsman for The Associated Press, covering government, politics, crime, sports, and other facets of news in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Florida.
