Cindy Akers is an Associate Professor in agricultural communications at Texas Tech University. After completing her masters in 1992, she worked in industry with the Livestock Market Digest and USDA Farm Service Agency. Cindy then completed her doctorate in 2000 from Texas Tech University. While employed at Texas Tech, Cindy has taught most of the technology courses in the department. Those courses covered topics such as graphic design, video production, web design and desktop publishing.

When Cindy is not at work, she is spending time with her family. Her husband Steven is a salesman in the construction field. They have two daughters Lauren, eight, and Wrye, five. This summer the family is busy going to t-ball games and basketball camp.
