David Doerfert David L. Doerfert, Ph.D.

Dr. David Doerfert joined the faculty at Texas Tech University in 2002 as an Associate Professor in Agricultural Communications. Dr. Doerfert teaches courses and advises students in agricultural communications, and conducts research related to agricultural communication strategies and methods, especially in the area of decision making.

Prior to returning to Lubbock, Dr. Doerfert was Team Leader in the Education Division at the National FFA Organization. David led a staff of 25 professionals focused on conferences, leadership program, American degrees and proficiencies, scholarships, CDEs and the National FFA Convention. David served as publisher of the FFA New Horizons magazine and the staff contact for the national FFA officer selection process. Prior to being Team Leader, Doerfert was a development officer with the National FFA Foundation.

Born and raised on a dairy farm in southeast Wisconsin, David began his career as a high school agriculture instructor at New Holstein, Wisconsin. Dr. Doerfert was the state supervisor of agriculture and state FFA advisor in Wisconsin and an assistant professor in Agricultural Education and professor-in-charge of the agriculture distance education efforts at Iowa State University.

Dr. Doerfert holds a B.S. degree in Agricultural Education from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls with a M.S. and Ph.D. from the Ohio State University.

David, his wife Jill, and son Michael live in Wolfforth, TX.
